Anyone who lives in the UK is aware who Jimmy Saville is. Famous both for being a philathropist, and a man of a unique style, the entertainer sadly died in October 2011. Recently many people have come forward with allegations that Saville had sexually assaulted them as children during the 1960s and 1970s. The most recent linking Saville to the Haut de la Garenne Scandel. The Haut de la Garenne is a children’s school in Jersey where it had been reported that many children had been abused over the lifetime of the school. The latest allegations say that Mr. Saville had visited the school during the 1970s and had taken part in the alleged activities.

Alan Collins, partner at national law firm Pannone, who represents Haut de la Garenne victims in their fight for justice came across Jimmy Saville during his investigation. Alan says that as part of his own enquiry into allegations of child abuse at Haut de la Garenne, he had to speak to witnesses and the name Jimmy Saville “came up”. Further that it is his understanding that Saville denied ever being at the home but this was disproved by photographs. At least one photograph had appeared in a Sunday newspaper at the time showing Saville posing with a number of children at the home.

The problem with themSaville Allegations is the fact that he is no longer alive. Usual procedure would have Saville be interviewed, with possible investigations taking place in his home looking for evidence. It’s likely many of his possessions have been destroyed or moved on to other owners such as family and friends. It is however likely so many allegations don’t come out of nowhere, and that there will at least be some weight to them. We can’t however know this (Saville is innocent until proven otherwise), and this is why the Metropolitan Police have launched a assessment into the allegations, with a possibility of an investigation.
